Regulations

As with other professions, sex workers must comply with certain rules. Think of possessing a valid proof of identity and registrations with the GBA and Chamber of Commerce.

All rules in a row

Below you will find important requirements that you must meet to be allowed to work as a sex worker.

Identification
In the Netherlands you are only allowed to work as a sex worker if you come from an EU or EEA country. You need a passport or ID card or a Dutch residence permit stating that you are allowed to work in the Netherlands.

Municipal Basic Administration
The Municipal Personal Records Database contains information about everyone who lives or has lived in the Netherlands legally. You cannot register with the Chamber of Commerce without this registration.

Chamber of Commerce
Only independent sex workers work at Achterdam Alkmaar. You need to register with the Chamber of Commerce under branch code 9609. Do you want to know more? We are happy to help you!

GGD
Take good care of yourself and your customers and have yourself regularly checked for STIs. As a sex worker you can appeal to the GGD for free.

Rules of Achterdam Alkmaar
We only work with sex workers who speak the Dutch or English language. This way we know for sure that the agreements made are clear to all parties. It goes without saying that we do not allow criminal offenses in our rooms and that any form of coercion is unacceptable to us.

If we get the impression that abuses are taking place or see signs that you are not working of your own free will, we will immediately report this to the police.

Because we believe that life experience plays a role in sexual experience, we use a minimum age of 21 years.
